Daugavpils University has licensed a new short-cycle professional higher education study programme, “Electronics”, expanding study opportunities in one of the most in-demand fields in today’s labour market. At the same time, the University has announced admissions to the new programme, with applications open from 10 August.
The new study programme has been developed in close cooperation with businesses and representatives of the electronics industry to prepare qualified specialists in line with current labour market needs. Its development was driven by demand from electronics companies in Eastern Latvia for professionally trained employees, as well as by the economic development priorities of Daugavpils City Municipality and the wider region.
The establishment of the “Electronics” study programme represents an important contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of the region. It provides a practical response to the shortage of qualified electronics specialists while also supporting innovation and technological development in Eastern Latvia.
The programme lasts two years and will be delivered through full-time, on-site studies. Applicants must have completed secondary education. Upon graduation, students will receive the professional qualification of Electronics Specialist.
In developing the study programme, Daugavpils University cooperated with leading high-tech companies operating in the Latgale Special Economic Zone (Latgale SEZ), including Regula Baltija, Pulsar Optics, SMD Baltic, Nexis Fibers, Ceram Optec, as well as Axon Cable and Latvijas Maiznieks.
These companies will also be involved in the implementation of the programme by providing internship opportunities for students. This cooperation will enable students to gain practical industry experience during their studies and establish direct links with potential future employers.
Applications for the programme will be accepted from 10 to 18 August at Daugavpils University, 13 Vienības Street, Room 111, on working days from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.
