World Bank Experts Discuss Business and Skills Development in Latgale

2026-06-04

On 20 May, Latgale SEZ welcomed World Bank experts in Daugavpils, together with representatives of the Latgale Planning Region.

The discussion focused on Latgale’s business environment, regional development priorities, investment attraction, and the role of Latgale SEZ in strengthening the region’s economic competitiveness.

A particular focus was placed on human capital development — how to align education and training opportunities with the real needs of companies and the labour market in Latgale.

For the region, this is a key factor in supporting the growth of existing companies, attracting new investors, and ensuring long-term economic development.

ℹ️ The World Bank experts are working in Latgale within the Catching-up Regions Initiative “CuRI Baltics”, implemented in cooperation between the European Commission and the World Bank. The initiative provides practical expert support to the EU’s eastern border regions in identifying development challenges and developing tailored solutions.
