Light Guide Optics International

Lightguide is a globally recognized leader in the design and manufacturing of silica optical fibers and fiber optic products. The high-quality light-conducting fibers produced by the company play a crucial role in the development of minimally invasive medical instruments, as well as in the production of fiber bundles utilized by leading industrial and scientific equipment manufacturers worldwide. Lightguide’s products are widely employed in surgical procedures, including vein and urology surgeries, while its fiber bundles are integral to critical applications such as semiconductor manufacturing, quality control, spectroscopy, and UV curing.

The company’s roots trace back to Livani, a historically industrial town with a strong legacy in glass fiber production. Optical fiber manufacturing in Livani began in 1983 at the experimental fiber optics division of the Livani Glass Factory. Despite the rapid development and immense potential of the field, the early 1990s posed significant challenges as the collapse of the Soviet Union threatened the industry’s survival. However, the founders of Lightguide remained steadfast in their belief in the future of fiber optics, demonstrating resilience and determination that ultimately paved the way for the company’s global success.

Today, Lightguide’s fiber optic solutions are utilized across nearly every continent, solidifying the company’s position as one of Latvia’s fastest-growing and most valuable enterprises.
